Marine Life Project
While the upper classes worked on Climate Change/Carbon Footprint, the younger classes, including our Kindergarteners worked on Marine Life, and were asked such questions as “What is marine life? What is harming it? What can I do to save it? In this they had to focus on how plastic is effecting marine life. We also sent them different links which could be of help, while broadening their knowledge and awareness.
The teachers suggested ideas on what to work on, but encouraged students to use their imagination and be as creative as possible. At the same time we were lucky enough to have a loggerhead turtle nesting in Ramla Bay for the first time in 70 years, and this enkindled the children’s interest in marine life.
The Kindergarten students, as well as Years 1 and 2 prepared projects on the harm plastic is doing on our environment. The resultant projects were truly something to be proud of, and are a sure sign that our students are truly aware of what is harming sea creatures and how each one of us can help to improve this situation.
